LIFE ON LIFE is just that. We gather once every other week to share a meal, a time of fellowship, and participate in what Mark Sayers refers to as “the passing down of heavenly patterns” (i.e., essential knowledge for apprentices of Jesus).
LIFE ON LIFE is for adults of any age and any stage of life wishing to grow deeper in their faith and encourage others in that process.
- When? Every other Sunday evening from 5:30-7:30 beginning August 31st.
- Where? Steve & Paula Fowler’s home | 3729 Valley Hill Rd NW – Kennesaw
- Dinner will be provided.
- Reading before each meeting is required.
- We will be reading together The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard.
We will assign portions of The Divine Conspiracy to be read before each meeting. The assigned portions will be less than what one could easily read in two weeks so that there will be ample time to discuss what we have read. We ask that you read the assigned portion as if you were going to be teaching it (You may be teaching it.), highlighting, underlining, and making notes.
With the reading assignment, we will include a few key ideas or questions. After dinner, we will circle up and spin the pen to see who will share their response to the first key idea or question, followed by a brief group discussion. We will follow that process to discuss or answer the remaining key ideas or questions. If you are not comfortable with sharing your response with the group, just say, “please spin again.”
In Chapter Fourteen of his book PLATFORMS TO PILLARS – Trading the Burden of Performance for the Freedom of God’s Presence, Mark Sayers writes:
“Paul writes to the believers in Corinth, “I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you” (1 Cor. 11:2). The word tradition in this verse is translated from the Greek term paradosis, which means the passing on of something. The Greeks associated this term with the passing on of something down the generations. …
KEY IDEA: Paradosis, the passing down of essential knowledge across generations, is critical for preserving culture and strengthening societies, both within the church and in broader cultural contexts. …
KEY IDEA: The passing down of heavenly patterns happens relationally—life on life.”
